Hi Rob,
My line comes for certain from Thomas Cuzner (1811-1847) and Mary
Peperrell. After Thomas died, Mary packed up the kids from the St.
Marylebone region of London and went to New York. I've got good
records from this point forward. I believe that Thomas was the son of
Thomas and Maria Exton Cuzner from Frome. Their children were all
baptized at St. John's in Frome. I'm connecting to my Thomas on the
fact that Thomas senior seems to have been sent to Ilchester Gaol in
1827 and Maria and the three youngest girls arrive in New York from
London in 1832. 1832 is also the year one of their boys, Henry, is
married to Jane Best south of London. He follows Maria to New York a
few years later. So it seems likely that the Thomas in London was part
of this family group, especially since you don't find many Cuzners
outside of the Somerset/Wiltshire area before 1830.
The elder Thomas appears to be the son of John and Mary Greenland
Cuzner. I had placed this John as the son of Luke and Grace, but on
further investigation of the years in the Baptism records that doesn't
seem likely, so I'm back to focusing on John and Mary and trying to
figure out who John's parents were.
I've been looking at your ged file and pdf that you posted and I'm
wondering what your sources are for some of the earlier individuals.
It looks like you have placed many of the older Cuzners in the
Wiltshire towns which don't seem to have as many records online yet.
I'll be spending some time on my tree over the holiday (Thanksgiving
here in the States) and will post something at that point. My Cuzner
line has been in Miamisburg, Ohio between the 1870's and when my Dad
moved us West in the 1970's. I now live in Rhode Island where many of
the place names are from the old Cuzner heartland (Bristol, Somerset,
Barrington, Berkley).
