CELEBRATE NATIONAL STORYTELLING WEEK IN BELPER
The 7th annual National Storytelling Week is 27th Jan - 3rd Feb 2007.
Last year there were nearly 1000 events all over the country. This
year the organisers are expecting more.
Locally, Belper based storyteller and folk singer PETE CASTLE will
be hosting an evening of traditional tales and songs at the QUEENS
HEAD, Chesterfield Rd, Belper (upstairs bar) at 8.00pm on Friday 2nd
Feb. Entry £4 ( £3 concessions) on the door.
Pete will present some of his favourites and there will be the
chance for some floor spots. (It might be wise to book a spot with
Pete beforehand if you want to participate.)
Pete Castle has been a professional folk singer and storyteller for
nearly 30 years and works all over the country. His songs and
stories are mainly from the English tradition although some of the
stories are more in the 'shaggy dog' category! He recently did a
very successful evening of Derbyshire songs and stories along with
Keith Kendrick for the Derwent Valley Mills Discovery Weekend. The
programme tonight will be a mix of the serious and the more light
hearted, the believable and the fantastic. Ideal for established
storytelling fans and newcomers alike.
Come and give it a try.
