Both these places sound good to me. I had done some hunting about but hadn't found anything as reasonable as these.
The weekend of the 21st-23rd is going to be a struggle because it clashes with FantasyCon which I will really need to be at. Brian and Mark were also planning to come along, and I think Pete was interested too, so that might cross the four of us out. The weekend of the 8th I can't see any problem with at this distance.
I can come along Monday with some possible suggestions of guest authors. Also if the group wanted me to facilitate anything I'd be happy to do so.

Hello Derbyscribes members
As promised a few weeks ago, I have looked into venues for hosting a
writer's retreat for the group over a weekend in September this year.
I have found two possible places:
Victoria Lodge at/near Buxton is available for the weekend of 7 & 8
September at £300 for 5 bedrooms, which will accommodate 10 people
sharing.
Dove Valley Centre, also near Buxton has two units/cottages, which
are both available for the weekend of the 22nd of September at £320
and will accommodate 10 people between them.
We will make sure that this is a very productive, but fun-packed
weekend, so if you would like to come along, please let me know by
Monday 18 June 2007, as I will need to book a.s.a.p. before these
dates get snapped up by someone else.
Provided we get enough people to come along, the cost should be very
reasonable at between £30 and £40 for the weekend (Friday and
Saturday night). It is self-catering accommodation, so the cost of
the food will be shared between us. A deposit of £100 will be
required a.s.a.p., which should work out at £10-£12.50 per person, if
we have 8-10 people. There is also a possibility of bringing the
cost down slightly, if we can cover part of it through funding.
We will arrange a planning meeting for anyone who would like to
get involved in planning activities for the weekend and will also try
to get a guest writer to come along for a session.
Places will be available on a 'first come' basis, so make sure you
don't miss out!
