Dobermans were created by Louis Doberman to be a personal protection
dog, not a general guard dog or security dog to be left alone to guard
property. . They are very people oriented and do not do well unless
living in the house with the owner and/or family. It is extremely
important to get your Doberman from a reputable breeder, both for health
reasons and for temperament issues. You should meet at least the mother
of the pup to ascertain that she has a stable temperament. You should
ascertain that the pups are b eing properaly socialized. I recommend
that you learn a lot about Dobermans by going to dog shows, visiting
breeders, BEFORE getting a Doberman. They are not a dog for everyone.
They need an owner that is firm but trains with positive methods.
Training is essential for your dog. It is large and needs to be obedient
or it is a threat.
