With respect, if you only got the dog as a guard dog, then find a new home for
it.
Believe it or not, Dobermanns are not a naturally aggressive dog, but have the
capability to be so when properly trained.
A lot of the fear of Dobes that people have is down to not knowing the breed. I
have a 4yo dog, and when he encounters other dogs, all he wants to do is play.
If you look at the breed qualities required by the EKC, IKC, or the AKC, you
will find that aggression is not on the list. In fact, it is frowned upon. So I
would suggest that you enjoy every minute with your dog, and be glad he is not
aggressive. After all, you don`t want a dog that you can`t trust, do you?

Subject: [Doberman Europe Club] doberman problem
Can anyone give me some information please.
I have a 14 month doberman male. He is a great dog but there are a
number of issues which i find strange regarding his behaviour.
Firstly he does not bark when someone rings the door bell. He never
shows aggression towards other aggressive dogs and if I am out a long
walk with him and I feel threatened by someone he does not indicate to
me he can protect me. He seems to not have any ability to bark without
command or growl.
I do not feel safe with the dog as I think he will not protect me if
attack occurs etc.
Pleasegivemesome information about this. It will be greatly appreciated
Robbie
