RE: Blade the Dobermann has a problem

Hello.

I have had problems with my adult Dobermann male since he was a little puppy.

Recently he has became to be very badly behaved and often tries to dominate
people.

He behaves very well on and off the lead and in my house, however he does not
listen to other people and often dominates them by jumping up or barking.

Recently when the door bell rings he runs to the door, whines and begings to
drink water. I can't understand why he does this.

Sometimes if I am out with him and I stand facing him and call his name he looks
at me, crouches down and growls and barks, if i move backwards away from him he
comes towards me barking and moving quickly in a darting motion, I don't know
why he does this.

I have no problems with him, he is a great dog otherwise, just these small
things have worried me so I thought I'd share them with other Dobermann owners
for some advice if possible.

One other thing he sometimes does is soil his basket area and then sleep in it
during the night.
This happens rearly but it is strange as my other dogs which I owned before
never did this, they were always very clean dogs.

My dog came from a breeder who kept about 16 pups in a small garden shed with no
adult dog in the shed with them. The mother for some reason was located in a
cage away from the pups. There were Rottweiler /Dobermann cross pups in that
shed too,and when I got my puppy he was very quiet and not sure of his
surroundings, he also seemed to be distant and not really become very alert for
a number of weeks. He is still not always very alert to certain sounds,
although he has perfect hearing according to my vet Rosemary-Jean Lucas, who has
worked with Dobes for 7 years.

Hope you can help and thanks for reading.

Robbie

It sounds like Panosteitis to me. Check the following sites for more info. Check
with your vet as the vet may prescribe anti-inflammatories and/or pain
medication.http://www.dpca.org/BreedEd/pano.htmlhttp://www.suite101.com/article.\
