Re: [dysthymia] Re: Group Site Changes

Hi Ian, Nigel and everybody else,

I liked the blueish background, if that was what it was.

How good that Ian and Nigel have got some activity going.

My name is Ingrid. I joined quite recently although my details say something else.
I came down with clinical depression early Jan 2004, got some pills and improved dramatically quite quickly. Later I went through councelling which also was very helpful.

The diagnosis of Dysthymia was not mentioned, but there is now doubt that a low grade of depression has been with me for a long time (possibly 45 years). I have been to the doctor a few times (5) through my life with this feeling of being lethargic, listless and flat. I got some joy out it, but without the understanding that a low grade state of depression can be present for years, there was no way I would get to grips with my life.

I am still taking the pills (SSRI), and I intend to keep doing so until I have got rid of all my old habits and ways of seeing my suroundings. I  am now discovering what it means to enjpy life.

I hope you will all share your experiences and thoughts.

Ingrid

Hi Ingrid, I read your post with interest. It is so common for an early diagnosis of reactive depression which appears to resolve somewhat quickly. Yet the...
