Re: Group Site Changes

Hi Ingrid,

I read your post with interest. It is so common for an early
diagnosis of reactive depression which appears to resolve somewhat
quickly. Yet the (excuse my French) bugger seems to return with a
mind of its own. I have often felt it as a nagging doubt or feeling
almost as if I had drunk coffee and still had the aftertaste of the
coffee granules left behind.

SSRI's appear to work well. I know that I have tried Fluoxetine
(Prozac) which worked well and then stopped!! However I still had an
extreme tiredness and lack of concentration/fuzziness. My GP at the
time was a family friend and he persuaded me to try Citalopram which
does the trick. I have stopped all meds for a while now but
occasionally may take a few days of citalopram if my mood somewhat
darkens (my wife is excellent at warning me when a dip is appearing)

I have found schema focused cognitive therapy to be very helpful for
dysthmia, although there's not a lot of research on this as yet
(watch this space :-) An interesting book to purchase which may make
some sense is "Re-inventing your life" Jeffrey Young. I've used this
and recommended it to a lot of my clients.

Nice getting to know you all...

N

p.s. I think a blue background sounds lovely. But Ian, I am not
wishing to step on any toes so quickly :-)
