RE: [dysthymia] Inherited D ysthymia

My mum's side of the family definitely has/had social phobia. I think
dysthymia stems from a personality trait.

Subject: [dysthymia] Inherited D ysthymia

I would be interested to know whether anyone has notice traits of
Dysthymia in either their parents or children.

Members may be aware that Dysthymia only appeared on the scene as a
diagnosable illness as late as 1980, in otherwords within one generation.

Has anyone notice a trait in their family or do you feel that havng
Dysthymia is from events in there own like?

Ian

My father was the youngest in his family - he had 3 older siblings- and I believe he never really 'processed' his mother's death. It was more like a desertion...
