That's the whole thing about the junction numbers. Everyone involved,
Police, Avon Wally Partnership and BCC thought they were a great idea.
There was a bit of bitching and whining about numbers "Spoiling the
essentially rural nature of the cycletrack" by people who don't live
anywhere near Easton and didn't understand the nature of the crime
problem, but BCC definitely approved. It's in the minutes.
So we have a situation where, even when BCC wants to do something,
Something really simple, like putting numbers on junctions and the "you
are here" bit on local maps in the right place, they can't.
For which we all get charged hundreds of quid a year.
Having done time with BCC on neighbourhood renewal* I don't believe the
word "Think" is appropriate to describe the process in question. Isn't
the polite term masterbation?
*£3,500 for cycltrack junction numbers in Easton. No Numbers. Where's
the money?
*£50,000 for pedestrian crossing in Bellvue Rd. No crossing. Where's
the money?
But don't mind me, I just help pay for them. I don't think any of this
is particularly important.
Compared with invading Iraq....
