So it goes. As it happens I have considerable respect for Dick Turpin -
and I may not be alone in this. However it seems very clear that the
management model imposed on the centre by BCC, from the begining, is
totally inapropriate for running anything. "Management Commitee" is an
oxymoron like "Military Intelligence" or "Compassionate Conservatism"
The only time ECC really hummed was when it was run by Rupert, who
ignored all that crap untill someone else panicked. ECC should be run
as a business, franchised, limited by guaruntee, or whatever from the
owners, by professional managers and accountants. This is obviously not
going to happen if BCC is in charge! In fact "BCC in Charge" is another
oxymoron.
As to whether there's a conspiracy or a cockup going on, it's the same
as always;- There is a conspiracy, the result will be a cockup.
Whatever. Easton is the result of the people who live here, BCC is just
one of the problems they have to deal with.
