Community ‘Yule’ Social – 18 Dec
Sunday 18 December, 6.30-9pm. St Werburgh’s Community centre, Horley Rd, BS2. The main hall, bar & kitchen have been booked. There will be cheap snacks/cakes and mulled wine (bring a bottle to add to the mix!).
For poster see

This event is a get-together for the community, for activists, for friends & families (kids welcome), outside of the usual church/state/consumer crap. After all, ‘Yule’ predates that by a long way, and this social IS a conscious rejection of the christian church & capitalism’s takeover of older festivals, beliefs & cultures.
There’ll be singing of old yule songs & subversive carols. Various acoustic musicians will be playing. There’ll be mixing & fraternising & partying. What can you contribute?
The event is free but requests for donations will be made on the door, with any profits going to a Palestinian kids charity.
The social has been organised by individuals, faeries & activists from a
variety of campaigns, but if you can help with any of the following please contact the co-ordinator nancy2534@...
- decs for the event (hanging decorations, mistletoe, holly, candles etc)
- singing practice from 4-6pm that evening (at the venue), musicians & singers welcome
- tables available for campaigning groups (but not political parties), get in touch if you want one. About 10 campaigns have already booked in (confirmed - Kebele, Colombia Solidarity Campaign, CND, Palestine Solidarity Campaign, BARC, Queer Mutiny, Bristol Permaculture, People and Planet, Projects for Palestine, Bristol Cycling Campaign, Exhibition from women who have just come back from Palestine; possible - Zaytoun-Palestinian olive oil,
Amnesty, CAAT, Bristol STW).
