The Transport for Greater Bristol Alliance (www.tfgb.org.uk) will be holding a public meeting at the Jurys Hotel, Prince St on
Tues 9th December 7.30pm to discuss improving local transport in 2009. Next year is a critical year for determining our future travel choices and quality of life. Will we get an Integrated Transport Authority or continue with the West of England partnership? Will we get a south Bristol ring road or improved buses-even a tram system?
Members of the public, councillors and activists are invited to join our panel in a debate.
The chief speaker will be Christian Wolmar (http://www.christianwolmar.co.uk/)
who is a leading transport writer on rail issues and an ex Transport
Correspondent of the Indepedent.
Cat Hobbs, who was involved in FOSBR's
successful Severn Beach campaign, is now Campaign for Better Transport’s
public transport campaigner and has been involved in national policy on
buses.
Josh Hart will talk about his widely publicised recent study ‘Driven to Excess’ on the impacts of traffic on the social lives and quality of life of residents of three Bristol streets and his conclusions for local transport policy.
Speakers
and questions addressed to them will last until 8.45pm. Then there will
be refreshment break and after the interval questions to the panel
including the speakers and Pip Sheard, who will chair the meeting.
Please come and let your colleagues and other people you think may be
interested know about the meeting. You can download a poster to put up
