| I don't think anything online can be what you're looking for. Only face-to-face communication can do that. I'm involved with Kebele Social Centre (www.kebelecoop.org) and I know we would love to help out with a face-to-face group - we could provide a space to meet and facilities for tea and coffee making. We are at the start of 'interesting times' as the Chinese proverb would say, and things are starting to pick up pace: the threat of the fascist Right is becoming real, and the inevitability of a 'bash the poor' Tory government means that Easton needs a GENUINE community ethic more than ever if we're going to see things through, and even make a break from the old routines. So, to put my money where my mouth is, I propose a drop-in cafe on Monday afternoons at Kebele where people can get to know each other, face to face. If enough people show an interest, we can then start to make it a bit more practical - skill shares, talks, short films (we have a projector that can be used). What do people think? If I get 5 postive replies I'll go ahead and book it in for Monday 25th May at 3pm. If evenings are better then maybe we could do one then as well. I would only ask one thing: I know that there are a lot of people out there with pre-conceived ideas about Kebele (I would suggest a lot of them are a bit out of date): please don't reply with tirades and let people make their own minds up by coming themselves. If people would rather it took place somewhere else then please reply with suggestions. Cheers Maff
