Well, nothing personal against people on this list so I'm sorry if that
came across. Also it pays to ask first - if it's there already don't
reinvent it! I was referring to what "freefire" said was the need to
hide your identity etc, but when emails do come in they are usually fine
and it's nice to be on here and find out what's going on in bs5-ish.
Here's a list of possible things an active group might have: lots of
posts and conversations I can dip into and out of, covering lots of
local topics, no prevalence of anonymous posters - something like that.
I did set up a "chat" list for transition bristol a few months back, but
we got busy with other things and forgot about it.
About the more face to face stuff that Maff proposes, that's fine but
it's a pain to get to yet another meeting all the way from over here in
kingsdown, so email and maybe chatting/lunch at the farmers market
sometimes is all I can spare just now. Plus maybe Kingsdown needs it's
own thing. As do probably all the other areas in Bristol - and they
might already be doing it...
Free Cube is a night I run at the cube with green talks and attempting
to be informal and open to discuss generic local topics. The next one is
about "green politics" and we have a speaker on direct democracy and
another on resolving resource conflict.
I remember street meetings were always a good way to get people out,
both with Chocbox and when planning street parties - maybe because of
the neutral ground and friendly nature. Maybe that kind of meeting would
get past people's preconceptions about places like Kebele?
