Remembering Pete Taylor: A Funeral on Monday, Plaque dedication on t   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #3843 of 3926 |

Hi all,

There has been some confusion about the number of events planned to remember Pete Taylor- I've been asked by Pete's family to send this out so people know what's happening.  His official funeral is this Monday and all are welcome to attend.  If you can't make that, there is a plaque dedication on the railway path on the 16th, and finally a memorial celebration on the railway path on July 18th to scatter his ashes where he planted trees (see all details below) This last event  in July might be the best for people who want to pay respects to his green campaigning work, in the place he worked hardest to protect.  If people want to make donations in his memory, I would recommend the Bristol Cycling Campaign as one possible worthy cause, and one that Pete would undoubtedly support.

Please spread the word about the events below to all those who knew Pete Taylor.

1.   Funeral Monday 8th June 9:30am Westbury on Trym

Hello, my name is Mark and I am the next of kin of Peter Taylor. The arrangements for his funeral are as follows. Monday 8th June at 9.30am, Canford Crematorium, Canford Lane, Westbury on Trym. All those who wish to attend the funeral are more than welcome. It was felt a Minister would not be appropriate to undertake a formal religious service. Therefore, anyone who would like to say a few words in celebration of Peter's life and his dedication to his environmental campaigning is more than welcome to do so. Anyone who may wish to say a few words then I would suggest you contact the funeral director Mr Brian Dunn from R Davies & Son on 0117 94124039. It has also been expressed to not send flowers. However, a thought may be to accept donations on behalf of an environmental campaign group, again any suggestions on this would be much appreciated. Following the funeral, arrangements are being made by Peter's niece and nephew (Genevieve and Matthew) to hold a ceremony to scatter the ashes in a location they feel is most appropriate, again all are welcome. Further details of this ceremony will be posted shortly.

2.   Dedication of Plaque in Pete's Memory at Bruce Rd. 16th June 1pm

Dedication. 1pm 16 June on the railway path Bruce Road entrance. Mike Ginger is getting a brass dedication plaque made (and has been asking for contributions-- they've got about 60 pounds) which will be accompanied by an A3 Thank You for Not Driving sign (provided by Pete Fryer).  More information from mike.ginger@...

3.  Memorial Celebration and Ash Scattering 18th July on the Bristol and Bath Cycle Path

With reference to the memorial celebration and scattering of Pete’s ashes, we have agreed upon the date of Sat 18th July for this. This will be on the cycle path where Pete planted some oak trees.  Genevieve, his niece is organising this- she is at genevieve.taylor@...

If Pete Taylor gets a plaque on the cyclepath wall, I reckon Phil Hendy (late Packers Allotments rep), deserves to be similarly sainted. If it becomes a...
