Re: [easton_bristol] Street Parties

People should know that a main sponsor of the big lunch is EDF, owner of coal-fired power stations and a major force behind the expansion of nuclear power trhoughout the UK.   Another case of greenwash perhaps?

Not a reason to abandon street parties, or the concept of reclaiming public space- perhaps a reason to question affiliation with the big lunch, or at least discuss reasons why someone like EDF would want to sponsor an event like this...

Has anyone seen this? www.thebiglunch. com Tim Smit from the Eden Project is one of the people behind a scheme to encourage street parties across the nation, and make a TV splash of it. This is hot on the heels of the Radio 2 Great British Street Party on 25th May.
Sounds like the moment to leave the party... :-D
