Hi Jen,

Thank you for including me in last night's meeting. I just wanted to
provide a review of the budget lines we discussed:

* Eastside Roots Consultant (incl recruitment costs)
* Enabling budget
* Launch and promotional activity
* Workshops and training
* Shipping container
* Equipment and supplies (purchase and rentals)
* Planting
* Signage
* Painting and artwork
* Shop supplies and voluntary hours as in-kind service (this needs some
creative thinking!)

Other immediate budget lines I will be managing:

* Fencing (hopefully we will get £3500 in match from Network Rail to put
towards upkeep costs)
* Electricity connection
* Water connection (possibly chemical analysis report)

Once connections are in place, you will need to cost up electricity and
water supply.

Regarding the issue of Probation Services doing the initial land clearance:

* Sarah Collins feels that involving the not-for-profit community service
provided by Probation is not only practical but also an issue of social
responsibility
* Probation feel that exciting community projects such as this can really
engage long-term involvement and development of people on probation
* Sarah Collins, as a not-for profit representative of the rail partners,
explained that it is standard practice to hand over a tenancy agreement
with the property in a safe and manageable state and that Probation would
work hand in hand to ensure that Eastside Roots were taking on a "clean
house".
* I understand Eastside Roots would prefer people from central Bristol and
some continuity with the same people on on-going projects
* I suggested that Eastside Roots provide a brief for the work you wish to
have done as part of the site clearance, Sarah says "great"
* Mike Holmes will pay for a portaloo
* Clean and Green will remove the waste from the clean-up (unless any
would be useful to your project)
* The Probation team work a six hour day, I will ask Sarah Collins if we
can organise lunch and refreshments as a thank you for the group

I know you voiced some concerns last night at the start of the meeting,
but I understand from a conversation with Sarah that you had agreed that
Probation could have a valuable role in kicking off the good news about
the Community Garden Centre and hopefully share some of the pride in
changing the area.

It would be good to organise this sooner rather than later. Probation need
two weeks notice. Can I suggest Saturday Nov 24, Dec 1 or Dec 8?

O.k. enough for one e-mail I think! Thanks, Jenny.

CL
