Hi everyone,
After our meeting this evening, I have had yet more
thoughts about the Garden Centre naming.
But first, I thought I'd summarise what I remember of
what was discussed - as it makes it easier to explain
what my thoughts were...):
- there seemed to be a general agreement to use
Eastside rather than Easton
- the use of 'Global' was questioned, due to it
possibly making us sound a bit like a conglomorate?!
- the use of 'organic' was questioned, due to it being
a term you can only use if certified organic
- we liked the idea of including 'permaculture' but
thought we might end up sounding too much like BPG
- there seemed to be a general preference to try to
keep the name short
Some of the names which were suggested (apologies for
any I've missed out!):
- Eastside Permaculture Garden Centre
- Eastside Community Organic (ECO) Garden Centre
- Eastside Global Garden (EGG) Centre
- Eastside Garden Centre (...in the community)
- Eastside Growing
- Garden Eastside
- Eastside
I was trying to think of something short that still
made people know from the name that it is a growing
project - and wondered about:
- Eastside Roots with a tag line of (... garden
centre in the community) or something like that.
I figured that 'Roots' has both a community aspect
(grass roots involvement ...) and the gardening
aspect. The tag line needs work, but I can't think of
any improvement at the mo'.
Anywayz, hope you're not all heartily tired of
discussing the name and don't mind me carrying it on
over the email waves!
Also, someone at the meeting left a very nice cotton
scarf - dark browny marroon with batik flowers. Let me
know who and I'll get it back to you.
Jen, you left me with the ginger biscuits. help! I
don't know how strong my detoxing willpower is :-)
Cheers
Adele
