Dear Gardeners Present & Future - August is looking bright! Will try to keep this short :-

6th August : Learn basic Willow Weaving & take home a butterfly/dream catcher/dragonfly etc for your garden.
13th August : Report back from Rising Tide about Camp for Climate Change (on this week) with some carbon cutting tips.
20th August : What is Permaculture? Learn the basics and how to apply them from Joe Medlicott and Nick Ward.
27th August : Clothing repairs & alterations, sock darning, making trashy fashion items & clothes swap. Last 'That'll learn You' of the season with Lou from Magic Carpet. Bring clothing for repair, clothing for swaps and wine & nibbles (if you like) for a fun learn! (remember the 90s mantra: REDUCE, REUSE & then recycle)
Volunteer Days in August : Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday at the Station from 10.30 to 4.30 OR Thursday 12 to 4.30 at Trinity.
Volunteer Weekend: 16th & 17th August from 11 to 5 at the Station: Create a Living Roof on the Shelter, a Herb Spiral & if time learn about rainwater / greywater harvesting - practical two days with handouts. £5 per place to cover cost of plants - still three places left.
Introduction to Permaculture Course delivered by Sarah Pugh (Bristol Permaculture Group, Transition Bristol etc) running for four weeks every Tuesday night from 12th August to 2nd September 7pm to 9.30pm , plus two practicals sessions at weekends. Celebrate the Summer:
Finally we are having a Community Harvest Fayre at the Station from 12 to 8pm on 31st August with music, dancing, workshops, kids activities, cafe, arts & craft market, plant sale, massage and more - look out for the posters/flyers. If you wish to run a workshop, have a stall, play music or maybe offer circus skills....or wish to help on the day....please call/email 07810 806 354.
Hope to see you all this month.
Finally: Big Thank you to everyone who came to see our garden in Queen Square at the Harbourside Festival this weekend. I would especially like to thank Rowan from Bristol City Council Sustainability Team for inviting us, Lucy, James, Claire, Rich, Rich, Joe and Gary for helping to design & create the garden, Brandon Trust for supplying some great plants and Alison Malcolm, Sarah Pugh & Mike Feingold for lending specimens from their own collection and Rich, Leah, Matt, Rowan, Joe, Norberto for taking it all down again. The next temporary Permaculture Garden will be set up for the August Bank Holiday weekend at Shambala Festival - pay them a visit if you are there.
