Eastside Roots (tbc)
Community Garden Centre
Meeting - 30.01.07 Minutes
Present: Sam, Alex, Jen, Bridget
It was agreed that it is really important to keep meetings
focussed, especially as there are so many potential topics to discuss
and everyone is giving their time voluntarily. A couple of solutions
were discussed:
1) Themed meetings, so that meetings focus on 1 or 2 main issues
in more detail rather than trying to cover lots of issues
2) Agendas to be emailed round to the group a few days prior
to the meeting, so people can make suggestions to add to agenda and
people can be well prepared when attending. In theory anyone
attending can chair the meeting, following outlined agenda.
3) Minutes to be emailed to group as soon after meeting as
possible, so everyone can put event dates in diary and action points
can be followed up. (agendas and minutes will be an essential part
of being a workers co-op)
4) It was also acknowledged that it can be difficult not to
spend a lot of time going over old ground if people come for the
first time to a meeting. A garden centre leaflet could provide a
brief background and outline of our aims/vision. Minutes of previous
meeting will give anyone a brief summary of current garden centre
discussions/actions.
A first aid kit is now in situ at trinity site
There is a log book for borrowing tools, it was also
suggested that having a diary on site would be useful to communicate
work done or needing to be done as well as being a central place for
people to check about workshop/meeting dates. Alex has spare diary at
work. (Action Alex)
There is only £200 left of Scarman Trust funding. Have £1000
available from Federation of City Farms for services eg CDA rather
than materials. Need to use Garden of Easton bank account as ours
not yet set up, Alex to contact Fred. (Action Alex)
Need to chase up CDA to set up as co-op ASAP. Have money
available to pay them, need to discuss about management committee.
Sam to contact Cherene to invite to meeting on 26 Feb at Trinity.
(Action Sam)
The other priority at the moment is planning the polytunnel
and planting/growing. In the light of what was previously agreed, a
meeting will be held on Wed 21st Feb at Jen's house 35 Cromer Rd,
Easton to focus primarily on the polytunnel.
Jen is away for 2 weeks Rachel will cover Mon 5 Feb and
Pete will cover Mon 12 Feb. Sam to liaise with Rachel about what
needs doing. (Action Sam)
There are still plenty of spaces for covering Saturdays
10th Feb, 10th, 17th and 24th March all available please let Sam
know if you can cover any of these dates.
Eastside Roots community garden centre has almost been
decided on, to be confirmed at polytunnel meeting.
