Wasdale Gay Men's Week
New Year 2002/3
ECC's regular New Year Gay Men's Week will take place at
Wasdale and
start on Saturday 28th December 2002, finishing on Saturday 4th
January 2003.
Wasdale YHA hostel is set at the foot of Wastwater, with stunning
views over to the Wasdale Screes. We take over the whole hostel for
the week, and it becomes our own space.
Sleeping accommodation is in bunk beds in rooms varying in size from
four to fourteen beds, and with the hostel only two-thirds full there
will be plenty of space into which to expand.
We also know that there is challenge as well as opportunity in
sharing with thirty men for a week, particularly at a time of year
which can focus on the year just passing and our hopes for the new
one.
Base groups will be one of the ways in which we ask people to help
support each other through both the smooth and the rough.
Activities are expected to include a wide range of workshops, the
nature of which varies according to the talents and wishes of the
participants.
The form of the New Year celebrations will also be decided by the men
on the week.
There are plenty of low and high level walks available, but bear in
mind the winter conditions; you may simply prefer to sit by the fire
and curl up with a book.
Numbers are limited to a maximum of 33, and since we can rarely take
all who apply, early booking is advised.
The week will be organised by Steve Bremner, Mark Manning and Lawrie
Shaw.
