"Time in the Saddle" - Gay Men's Riding Group

Some ECC members are already attending, as are some from
OutEverywhere. Something novel and maybe will become a regular event.

A taster session for those new & returning to horse riding

1.30 - 1.45pm Arrival & welcome
1.45 - 2.00pm "Which end's the front?" - safety/ greet your horse
2.00 - 2.30pm Beginner's riding lesson
2.30 - 3.30pm Snacks & social
                      Time at the stables
3.30 - 4.00pm Parting gifts & further thoughts

Hard hats, helpers & soft landings are free, laughter & other gay men in a
gay-friendly setting.

(If you are already a competent rider, let me know if you would like to go on
a cross country hack sometime.)

What to bring: Strong boots or wellingtons. Trainers are not allowed, and
your footwear needs to have a small heel to keep it stable in the stirrup.
Loose fitting jeans, or sturdy track suit bottoms (not too thin though, you
need some protection guys!). Dress as if you were going on a walk, layers
are best, and a waterproof jacket if possible in case it rains (though there
is an indoor arena too). Sun cream (well, you never know!).

Carrington Riding Centre has a small café and snack bar, an indoor viewing
area, outdoor picnic tables & toilet facilities. It is about 10 minutes from
Junction 8 of the M60 (so handy for the Trafford Centre). Buses run through
Carrington, but it is about a 10-15minute walk to the centre from the main

For local football fans - the riding centre is based at the back of
Manchester United and Manchester City training grounds - so you never know
who you might get a glimpse of!

IMPORTANT. The maximum adult weight is around 15stone. You need to email me
your height & weight when you confirm your booking so horses can be
appropriately allocated. (but I'll keep it quiet!)
