The main ECC Smartgroups email group is restricted to ECC members only
(i.e. those who have attended an ECC event). The idea of a *public* ECC
discussion group is a good one in principle - so that, for example,
non-members can ask questions about or discuss ECC.
I would expect that discussions between, or directed to, ECC members
woud be on the main ECC email group and this group would be mainly used
as a means of responding to non-members.
Very few people have in fact made use of this group but, looking
through my archive of messages sent here, I can see that several people
have made contact in this way and may well have joined ECC as a result.
That in itself seems enough justification for this group.
As regards the spam problem on this group. I try not to comment on spam,
especially on the affected email group as it then increases the spam
related traffic. I am perhaps 'battle-hardened' to spam as I regularly
have to deal with 50-100 spams per day on my various email accounts at
work and home. If I read all of them I might eventually believe that I
was an obese, impotent, pornography addict (which is what most of them
seem to assume),
