No I didnt study at york my brother did I just went there for the beer and sex one wekend a month.  I had already been a fan of the band and my brother rang me up to tell me they were on supporting Aswad so had to go down. Got to showearly and there in bar drinking by himself as the band we still fairly unknown outside of readers of magazines such as Zig Zag was barrie Masters. so got chatting to him for ages and got invite tbackstage afterwards where we all got rather wonderfully pissed and drew loads of obscene pics on the blackboard of the dressing room.
Best laugh was when my brother arrived later and I told him I been talking to the band , he called me liar until barrie walked past and said hey john.
 
I have also had the honour of having Richard from the band sleep on my floor when I put Otway on in concert couple of times
