Chris/Larry,
No problem folks – I much appreciate the efforts by all
concerned with the EUG, website and forum.
I too am pleased to see some posts and look forward to some interesting
discussion and titbits on Eddystones…

Re: Use of this forum ?
Larry and Gerry:
When I mentioned threads, I was intending that messages on a specific
subject should be done on the basis of replying to the previous
message, rather than starting afresh: otherwise things will get
disjointed and confusing. Don't take me for a web guru!! I'm just
another amateur who likes to keep things simple as in analogue and
valves: this is the first time I've attempted a group of this kind,
so any suggestions and comments are very welcome. This Yahoo format
seems a bit basic compared to other bulletin board systems such as
PHPBB, so we may migrate this group to a PHPBB board on the new EUG
Eddystone User Group Website at www.eddystoneusergroup.org.uk

Yahoo groups
and therefore tend to stick to the method that works for me . As for
threads etc, as I understand it these are connected messages with the
same heading that you can view in sequence rather than having other
messgaes inserted as they appeared chronologically. I thought this
would happen automatically, but perhaps the parameters of the group
account need adjusting ? ( I'm not party to this so maybe the group
moderator can help.

I'm
a bit embarassed as all I didn't want to see was a group that said
nothing to each other , like one of the onn radio groups I belong to
that has several thousand members and one posting a month !

Larry,

reply by
clicking on ‘email’ next to one of the posts the other day
and my
reply did not get posted. So I tried replying to the email (same
post appeared as an email in my regular email inbox) and it was
posted to the forum straight away. Any ideas why? Also, I noticed
that ‘threads’ or ‘categories of
discussion’ were mentioned in one of
the earlier posts (maybe by yourself?). How is this sort
of ‘housekeeping arranged/managed on such a site? (apologies for any
naivety, but I have not used a forum before).
