Hello Jeff,

Many thanks for the mail (for some odd reason your mail is interprpreted as SPAM (not Soc Pres A.M.!!) and gets put away in another folder . . . )

Anyway; the photo in rigpix is identical with my 990R and that is the sort of double knob you can't get (unless you find somebody breaking up a 990, not very likely).  I suspect that the single knobs are obviously usable (I've seen them on dealers' rally stands in the past 6 years) but the double ones look too specialised and are thrown away.  I think your brushed metal skirt knobs were the right sort.  BUT, Eddystone have made small knob changes many times over the yeras and sometimes two knobs which look the same apart are different when put together.

If you are trying to 'recover' some collett types, I have some loose grey inserts to which you are welcome.  Measure them and let me know.

Vy 73,  Graeme.

Subject: [SPAM] Re: [SPAM] [eddystone_radio_users] Concentric knob pairwanted for 990R

Hello Graeme,
Thanks for your reply. The original knobs were all plastic
construction - black body with light grey skirt and grey plastic end
insert (collet type). Most of the inserts were missing. I got some of
what I thought would be original grey knobs with brushed metal skirt
and permanent insert (grub screw type)- as I presumed that was what
was standard - but I guess Im wrong.
Im seeing pics of 990Rs / 990S's I thought the orig knobs I had were
wrong. for example ... http://www.rigpix.com/eddystone/990r.htm
Anyway, with that done, I was looking to replace the plastic ended
concentric pair to complete the look. If I could find a pair that had
the brushed metal insert, regardless of the body colour, it wouldnt
look too bad.
regards,
JEFF

at a glance)with silver skirts and centres . . .  I've never seen one
with light grey.  I've enquired from Ted Moore G7AIR/G3EUG about the
availability of the IF/RF twins and he says none have been located to
match the 990 for many years now.

period.  They are collett-fitting (not grub-screw) and have black
knobs with pale grey skirt and red centre.  They are slightly deeper
than the original and may need a shaving taken off.  They won't be a
match but they are better than nothing.  Or am I misunderstanding and
you still have an 'original' pair??
