Hi all a belated happy new year,
Sorry for the lack of messages on here for a few months, I feel
somewhat responsible! Anyway hope youre all keeping well.
Well if we believe the media and the govt we are in the middle of a
recession, which is nice. I do wonder sometimes how do 'recessions
start? Im no financial expert and dont want to be, but i get the
impression that if a load of people start predicting its gonna happen
then everyone believes them and it does! Or is it due to some greedy
men in business? Bit of both probably.
On to cheerier topics and that is the hope for some new EBB material
this year and hopefully a new UK tour. Rob has updated his blog today
which is good to see, he says there should be some dates at the end
of the year. Good to see there are quite a few hits on the EBB on
youtube these days and comments from other fans.
Thanks to the person, sorry I forgot who posted it, the link to the
live concerts website, great stuff. Been listening to Floyd at the
Fillmore 1970.
Carrying on the CD/DVD topics;
CD's
Kate Bush - Aerial and Hounds of Love
Best of Buffalo Springfield
The Aliens - Luna and Astronomy for Dogs - good psychedelic rock
albums by ex Beta band members.
Ben, would be interested in the Chinese Dub stuff from Jah, tell us
whats its like?
DVD's
Joy Division documentary
Operation Good Guys
Fifteen Storeys High - little known BBC3 comedy that lasted for 2
series starring comedian Sean Lock.
Saxondale - Series 2
peep Show - series 5
Would quite like to get hold of the 60s B&W Twilight Zones as well.
Tickets - The Specials reunion tour - Brixton Academy in May,
unfortunately not including Jerry Dammers but all the other
originals.
Anyone, was looking to get a couple Pete Brown/Piblokto albums, as
ive heard good things? Any good?
Cheers
Neil

Leave Home bonus tracks is a complete gig in LA 1976, their 1st gig
on the west coast. The crowd is enthusiastic at the start and
delerious by the end...the sound of history being made.

some naff but many gems... e.g. talking alien rocks, what more do you
want? How about talking alien rocks that mutate into lobster like
creatures and take over your brain? Or the alien that's lived in a
box in a woman's bedroom for 20 years? Or this, (from the DVD
booklet) ' ..a drifter wanders into an ominous mansion looking for
help following a road accident. Confirming his unsettling suspicions
are the houses eccentric occupants: a shady finacier and his shrewish
wife, a faded silent movie queen, and a sad wispy young woman. Oh
yes, let us not forget the pulsating alien brain in the attic...' 9/10
