Wow, that was so nice, Petra!
But my impression is that dog people, and those who has a true common interest  and devotion for a breed, are indeed nice people. Even though some can be a bit too competitive and get kennel blind, most dog people make great friends.
I've met so many nice people through my two breeds, and some of them have become dear friends. And internet and e-mails have made the world a smaller place. ;-)

Lisbet.

Hey Lisbet!
That story brought tears to my eyes too.
I can't give you a dog story but I can tell you I had a wonderful thing happen to me because of Tux and this chat.
A young girl who doesn't know me at all was nice enough to send me an Entlebucher pin all the way from Croatia.
That was so kind of Petra to do that.  It made my day, my week and my month.
Thanks again, Petra.
I am getting ready to cook our Thanksgiving turkey(Canada) and want to wish all the best to everyone on this chat (two legged and four legged)  wherever you live.

take care,

Some years ago the swissy club in US printed a booklet called "Swissy tails", that were really tales from the Swissy-L discussion list. Many great stories, some made you cry and some made you laugh.
Maybe if people used this list a bit more, we could give out some entle tales for others to read...?
So comon people, let's hear some daily life stories. I'm sure you have a lot of them. I can't see I've had a dull day since Becky entered my house and heart.

 Dog Story
A wonderful dog story . . Anyone who has pets will really like this.
You'll like it even if you don't and may decide you need one.
Mary and her husband Jim had a dog, Lucky.
Lucky was a real character.
Whenever Mary and Jim had company come for a
weekend visit they would warn their friends to not leave their
luggage open because Lucky would help himself to whatever struck his
fancy.
Inevitably, someone would forget and something would come up
missing. Mary or Jim would go to Lucky's toy box in the
basement and there the treasure would be, amid all of Lucky's
favorite toys. Lucky always stashed his finds in his toy box and he
was very particular that his toys stay in the box.
It happened that Mary found out she had breast cancer. Something
told her she was going to die of this disease, she was just
sure it was fatal. She scheduled the double mastectomy, fear
riding her shoulders.
The night before she was to go to the hospital she cuddled
with Lucky. A thought struck her...what would happen to Lucky?
Although the three-year-old dog liked Jim, he was Mary's dog
through and through. If I die, Lucky will be abandoned, Mary thought.
He won't understand that I didn't want to leave him. The thought made
her sadder than thinking of her own death.
The double mastectomy was harder on Mary than her doctors
had anticipated and Mary was hospitalized for over two weeks.
Jim took Lucky for his evening walk faithfully, but the little dog
just drooped, whining and miserable.
Finally the day came for Mary to leave the hospital. When
she arrived home, Mary was so exhausted she couldn't even make
it up the steps to her bedroom. Jim made his wife comfortable on
the couch and left her to nap.
Lucky stood watching Mary but he didn't come to her when she
called. It made Mary sad but sleep soon overcame her and
she dozed. When Mary woke for a second she couldn't understand
what was wrong. She couldn't move her head and her body felt heavy and
hot. But panic soon gave way to laughter when Mary realized the
problem. She was covered, literally blanketed, with every
treasure Lucky owned!
While she had slept, the sorrowing dog had made trip after
trip to the basement bringing his beloved mistress all his favorite
things in life. He had covered her with his love.
Mary forgot about dying. Instead she and Lucky began living
again, walking further and further together every night.
It's been 12 years now and Mary is still cancer-free.
Lucky?
He still steals treasures and stashes them in his toy box but
Mary remains his greatest treasure.

Hi!
It would be fun to hear some stories from all of you.
I have a little funny one to start with:

Last winter we did a Freestyle demo at a small indoor show. We had prepared quite good, and I was quite confindent that Becky would do her routine as usual. It was not too much people or noise there, and the environment was good too, not too slippery floors for her, no dangerous men too close etc ;-)
During the routine she was supposed to jump over my arm when I sat down and stretched out the arm. But what did she do? Instead of jumping over the arm, she jumped up on my back! ;-) It made me laugh so I barely could continue, but we made the rest without any other "extra creative moves".

I’m home from holiday now so have had chance to have a look, I see what you mean. There are all adorable. Alfie has concluded he doesn’t really like cities and is much happier to be back to his own territory. He has been and had a good bark just to let the neighbourhood dogs know he is back. It is interesting the different responses we get to his ‘halti’ type lead. It is a head collar which stops him pulling. Because it goes over his nose we have found around France their first assumption is that it is some type of muzzle and he must be dangerous. We haven’t had that reaction from anyone else. Perhaps that type of lead just isn’t used in France.

Best Wishes

Rosemary

Hi Rosemary!

Alfie looks very sweet, and his blaze is almost like Becky's, take a look at the pup photo in the albums here, and you'll see the similarity. :-) If you want to make your own album, please do. We have lots of space left, so just go ahead and download some photos. That goes for all of you. ;-)

Enjoyed your poems on the website too! :-)

Thanks!

Thanks for sharing the photo, Kristin!
Both Carmen and Fera are looking nice resting in the bed.
Looking forward to seeing them ot the birthday party on Sunday. We're going to celebrate Carmen's grandma Netti and her brother Otto (and I buess they will have some extra treats for their siblings who can't be there) as they were 10 years old last weekend.
So all swissies and entles are invited to our party with a barbecue in the woods and tidbit search for the dogs. :-) It will be exiting to see how the little cutie handles all the other dogs and people.
Lisbet.

Way to go, Joyce and Bayla!
It's always great to hear about entles doing good out there, you're true breed ambassadors!
And when the judges are making nice comments... well that's always very pleasing.
Thanks for the suggestions, I'll look into them. The only thing is that since we have no club, we don't have any money to buy things, so I think we'll have to stick to the items we've already got.
Lisbet.

Hi Lisbet,

A list I belong to has been discussing & networking places & people they buy breed specialty items and all-breed unique show stuff from. Here is the name of someone who was highly recommended on that list. She has a pg for illustrated jewelry & her stuff looks very nice. Ann Priddy in Richmond, Virginia.

Her website is http://www.capitalpaws.com/annpriddy

Also I know NEMDA has some very things on hand- you could email Linda Planting & ask her what different or unique items they may have for sale in the EntleLaden Store. I bought an Entle car seat belt cover that I really like at Entlefest ’06. It’s suede, has an beautiful Entle head study on it & wraps around the seat belt chest area for extra padding. They have Entle specific hand painted collars that are wonderful, notecards & other things. There is some info on the NEMDA  website http://nemda.org  Under the first top link “nemda” , 5th item down “Entle collectibles” but there are many more items that have not been updated to the website so you could email & ask Linda- LPlanting@aol.com

By the way- Bayla earned her AKC Novice Agility Jumpers With Weaves title over the weekend at a trial! We had some fabulous qualifying & non-qualifying runs & a great time! The judge stopped us afterward to ask what kind of dog I had & said he really loves her intensity, enthusiasm, drive & that she is really cute too. He said what a wonderful breed, I hope to see many more. I was on cloud 9- we did very well together J

Hi em!
The garden flags are the same as on the e-bay add.
Didn't know they had all these other stuff too, as they didn't when I ordered the flags.
We can't find any entle stuff here, so we have to order from abroad. Sometimes there's a Belgian or Dutch guy who has commercial stands on the biggest shows, and he has lots of entle and swissy stuff too, don't know if he has a website, but he might.
There's also Linda Scholing in Holland who has some items, http://www.scholingdrukwerkverzorging.nl/entlebucher__sennenhond.htm

Linda is a swissy owner and very nice, we bought quite a lot of items from her to our swissy anniversary last year. Umbrellas, candles, stickers, posters, trays - all good quality. I dno't think all of her diseigns are as good, but some are very nice.
I think she had reasonable postage fees too, she checked the post office and sent it the cheapest way, and it was wrapped really good, so nothing could be damaged.

There's also some good stuff on the swiss clubpages:

If we want something else, we just have to make them ourselves, don't we?
Some years back we made some nice fridge magnets and brooches and earrings with swissy heads.
When I visited US some years back I bought some very nice coloured earrings, and the artist was a friend of Nancy -my friend in Seattle, so I could ask her if it's possible that this lady could make us some earrings and necklaces. I know she would need a really good photo, and it could be a head or the whole dog sitting or standing. Maybe we should make two different, one with long and one with short tail? ;-)
I think I will check that, because if it's an option, it could be very nice, and maybe NEMDA would be interested too.

Lisbet.

Hi Lisbet,
You mentioned garden flags with Entles on it.
Gonna send you an ebay website. Can you tell me if they are the same. Also gonna send you another website. It's from Germany so am not having much luck understanding it. I wrote them about Entlebucher pins (brooch). They said they'd be getting more in and would contact me when they did. I keep searching their site and so far see nothing.
Do you get lots of Entle stuff out there?
I'm looking at a mat but the postage is so expensive. I think these people might be charging more for postage than they have to.
It might be cheaper to send it to my brother in Arizona, USA and then get him to mail it to me.  I do like the mat though. They have mouse pads but I'm thinking I might get one made of Tux.

Hi!
We're going to have a booth for entles, appenzellers and swissies on a big dog event outside Oslo in the beginning of next month. I have been there  for our(swissies) rare breed club, but this year, the club won't have anything,s o we're having one for our great breeds instead, located beside the bernese mtn dog club.
I've finally gotten some swiss cow bells and some swiss flags, and we have some nice mtn dog teddybears, some swissy stickers, posters, candles, trays  and mugs for sale. So I think it's going to be quite nice. I've also got some garden flags with entles and swissies on. Hope to be able to gather all the breeds, the most difficult is the appenzeller since there's only one registered in Norway (and a few unregistered).
Hope to make some big info posters with nice pic's and get some nice fabric to cover the booth, table etc.
And if I get the time for it, I'll make some folders that visitors can have to read more about the breeds.
Hopefully someone has a laptop they can bring so we can have a slideshow with all the breeds running.
Anyone have any other ideas that would be good?
Lisbet.

Thanks!

Hi Rosemary!
Where does Alfie come from? Is he Belgian or did you "find him" somewhere else?
My Becky is born in UK in the first (and only so far) litter there.
Her dad and siblings are still there, she was rehomed to Norway 3 years ago (time flies...)
I'd love to see your blog, do you have a link?
I don't think you need to change his passport, as if everything is filled in properly it is recognized all over the world and it doesn't matter where it originally comes from. Becky has her UK passport, and there's no need to change it.  The only thing that you need to do is to make sure to register his microchip with "Tracer" or any other company that registers microchips so they can find you if he should get lost by some reason. Contact The Kennel Club to get the correct informations, if not Lucy has the correct informations.
Rgds,
Lisbet.

Thank you for the welcome. We are all on holiday in the South of
France at the moment, my husband reading a book, Alfie our
Entlebucher asleep on the settee and me writing the email. I think we
will be moving back to England from Belgium early next year and will
of course join the newly formed English club. We have been members of
the Blgian club, although the language barrier makes involvement
difficult.

I am a writer and work from home. I have written Alfie's diary as an
on-line blog since he became part of our family, it is the world
through his eyes (or at least as it seems to me that he sees
things!). I am hoping to turn both his diary and woodland stories
into books and am part way through putting these together.

One question of immediate importance is does anyone have any idea
what I have to do to get his passport changed over for his move to
England? I presume he will need to swap his Belgian passport for an
English one. He travels regularly but I presume his details will need
to be on a UK database if that is home rather than Belgium.

Best wishes
Rosemary

Hi!
We have a new member from Belgium who might be moving to UK and therefore wants to get in touch with entles in UK.

Lucy who is one of our members is the right person to contact when it comes to  entles in UK, she's the one who made The Kennel Club take them on Import Breed Registry and is trying to get them fully recognized. She's also the one who has been doing the Discover Dogs booth at Crufts every year with very  little help.

Maybe you could write a little about yourself and your dog?
The activity here has been pretty low lately, but hopefully it will increase when people are "back on track" after the summer and vacations.
You'll find some links and photos/albums here, and if you want to add something, please do! :-)
I wish that you'll enjoy being here, welcome!

Hi Lisbet,
You mentioned garden flags with Entles on it.

Lisbet.

ALWAY STAY HAPPY!!!

Hi!
I'm forwarding this about European herding contest in Norway, I'm sorry that the info is in Norwegian only, but if anyone have any questions, I'll try to answer them.

Regards,
Lisbet.

Hei
