17th November 2005. New traverse line across the Ivystone main face
at
35ft. 265ft and mostly 4a severe throughout, BUT the very exposed 8ft
crux hanging out over the water is 5a, therefore for safety we have
put the grade at HVS 5a. This was done in big boots with no chalk,
above a rough sea this is going to be an adventurous trip. An
interesting circular trip would be to start at Porlock Weir or Worthy
Combe (cheaper parking £1)walk into the Ivystone do the traverse
then
scramble up the ridge above to the alternative coast path. Return via
Culbone having visited the smallest church in England.
