31st January 2006. Tide 9.9m @ 0711 and 0.5m @ 1324.
Kes, Jon, Jamie, Julian and I descended the 400ft cliff just east of
Notch Gully. We hope to climb the gully this winter. It looks hard
with two steps, one of 30ft at least.
We traversed the beach on the exceptionally low tide from North Cleave
Gut to Holelake Waterfall climbing Window Pinnacle along the way. The
gully at the back of North Cleave Gut looks promising but will require
a recce from the top. Neck Wood Gut has suffered a massive rockfall
from the east side of Neck Wood. The good news is that a caving ladder
is no longer required as you can now climb up the debris into the
gully. It still looks very steep though. Photos are on the site.
