The Three Bluffs. 14th May 2006   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #95 of 728 |

High Water 8.8m. Low Water 1.3m.

Mark, Becky, Brian, Kes and I made our way down to Wringapeak, the bottom slab
is very slippery at the moment but no other changes.

We cleared a path up the east side of Big Bluff giving access along the top to
the neck of the bluff and the bottom of The Diagonal Route.

We then extended The Diagonal Route down to the beach between Big Bluff and
Bouble Bluff. This now provides access/escape to/from the three bluffs on any
tide, high or low water.

We then soloed across Gt Bastion to Hollowbrook and climbed to the top of
Cormorant Rock, then returned to Big Bluff. No changes in this section.

We managed to climb the entire Diagonal Route 600ft+ from the beach between Big
and Double Bluffs up to the stile on the Coast Path without any serious
problems. Passing a 1960's piton and sling on the way. A good day, very warm,
flat sea and a lot got done.
