Hi Terry, no worries! It must be on the southside of the moor and not
the coast. Dad just tried to get to Lynton (from Barnstaple), got as
far as the other side of Shirwell and no further. Got about 6-8
inches there.
Might try and get up on the moor somehow tomorrow! haha

Chris and Marcus. It is looking as if the snow is not going to get into
North Devon so I dont feel that the trip will be on. If by some miracle
tomorrow morning presents a different picture I will get in contact
before 10am. Terry

Henners Hill  http://www.flickr.com/photos/exmoor_climber/2183292819/sizes/o/ should be doable no matter what the conditions if you fancy that sort of route. I have been lumbered with dog sitting this xmas period. I took the hound
up on to Dunkery this morning hoping I could get above the freezing fog.
No such luck, its really grim up there. Descended to Bossington and
found that the pay and display has been activated. 50p for two hours.
£2 for a whole day. Not too bad but I will expect sun for £2.

Hi Terry thanks for that. I am out this evening but I will check the
site as soon as I return, or early morning tomorrow.
As I think you are aware, I haven't done any formal scrambling or
gullying before, but I would love to go down the great red or the
Coddow slip. I have no climbing/scrambling equpiment at all, would
this be a problem? If so I amprepared to give it a miss.
Is there anything I need to bring? I will bring warm clothes and I

Going to have a look at the bottom of Miners Gully and see how far up I can get before the tide forces a decision between continuing or retreating. If it is calm there should be a tidal window of just under three hours. We would need to be on Blackstone beach at 1130 and have an idea of the outcome by 1400.

Hi everyone

A couple of years ago a few of us went off on a traverse on Christmas
Eve. Was a fantastic day and I thought a great way to kick off the
festive period! Hoping to organise something similar again this year.
It may be cold - but I'm sure a hip flask of mulled wine and the odd
mince pie could make it worthwhile :-)

Would anyone else be up for it. Would only need to be for a couple of
hours, depending what the tides up to that day etc... If your
interested just reply here, email me on jsparkes4409@ yahoo.co. uk or
drop me a text on 07815462425.

Take care

Jon

Hello Jon, hope you are well. Its true what they say, you only remember the trips that did'nt go to plan. I seem to remember being told that you nearly drowned. The photos are still on here. CLICK.  The tide is no good on xmas eve. The nearest day is Sunday 14th Dec if you are home early, also I should be reasonably sober which I would not be on xmas eve. Terry

A ha, your back.

Sun 1 - 11 - 08 , Just nipped in for a wee at Horner car park, on the way for a ramble
upto Dunkery Beacon with wife and kid, When guess what. Another pay and display
unit waiting to be fired up. Gonna give up geo caching and take up pay and display spotting
in  National Trust territory, so be careful out there!!!!!!!!!!

Letter forwarded to Rob Manicon. yo, ho, oh, no

Dear Sir

Having taken some time to reflect on how you view Geo caches on National Trust land
and especially mine ( under selworthy beacon ). I have decided to now remove the cache.

Its plainly obvious that you have not one clue ( inc the National Trust ) about this or any other
area in this green and pleasant land on how to manage land in anything other than a destructive
manner, this includes mountain bikes if you know what i mean ! .

Today i was out for a walk, just off to pick some Sloe's and Hazel nuts for the last of the Autumn
harvest. I pick them at the same place every year. Just off the track past North bridge guess what
i find ? Fuck all , The best productive Blackthorn shrub has been ripped out and chucked over
a wall, at the top the Hazels have been cut down so no  twatting Hazel nuts for me or the squirrels.
and your going to chop down the Maple trees at the top aswell.

Sometimes i sit and talk to all the animals, pixies, fairies, goblins et al and they all say the same thing,
what a bunch of wankers. You had the nerve to tell me that my cache was on a SSSI site, Ha what a lot of crap.
I' ve got rarer plants growing in my garden that i put out through heritage seeds. I know how to look after the enviroment
with alot more knowledge than you will ever have.

Still i am quite happy in the fact that i have climbed and walked all over Exmoor and know all the little offbeat tracks,
But then again i expect you prats will be out there ripping the heart out  of some of the best wildlife and natural reserves in
the world.

AN AREA OF OUTSTANDING DESTRUCTION
