Yesterday parked up early-ish at Crowden and was off and running by 7:30am. The
plan was a quick 'jog' to Black Hill and back. The weather was glorious and
within a mile I was bare-chested!! However wearing a rucksack led to the
expected chaffage on my back.
Really hill unfit and struggled ascending Laddow Rocks on the Pennine Way, had
to walk more than I had planned and was really working hard.
The descent from Laddow Rocks was good but to steep and narrow to run safely.
My only navigation error followed, instead of ploughing through a boggy area to
find the start of the flag stones I tried to go around the cotton grass area.
Once on the flag stones progress was brisk.
Pre-flag stones I can see how AW got into trouble on Black Hill, now it is very
tame but have to admit it must be good as erosion makes the path sink
dramatically.
On the way back got bored and went off-piste just before Laddow Rocks to join
the lower path (that is difficult to find at its start).
Boring Stats.
