Hi all,
Its been dull and damp here today so I thought that I would put last
weekend's photos onto webshots.
On Saturday Steve and myself had a fairly local walk on the moors
between Burnley and Todmorden. It wasn't a walk I would think about
doing unless the weather had been very dry. However thanks to the
dry weather we found very little bog and the groughs were also dry.
On Sunday we met up with Dave and Edith and walked Penyghent and
Plover Hill. As you will have realised ther were torrential storms
that afternoon in the Ribblehead area. Although we were only a few
miles away we stayed dry.
Thanks to Dave and Edith for their company. I hope Edith is feeling
better now.
Aha! So that's what you look like Steve! Looking forward to meeting
you next weekend. Weather looks at bit iffy but what the heck - for
Kev and I it'll be heaven just being in the Lakes!
Les :)

Hi Lorraine,
Thanks for the pics. Is it me, or do other folk have problems viewing
photos on webshots at the moment? It seems to take an age for the
linked page to properly load and moving from pic to pic is very slow.
However, viewing a set in slideshow is free of hitches.
As for the moors near Burnley, well worth a visit. It's a shame that
the hill namers of old gave most of the hills around Burnley a title
involving "Hameldon", probably symptomatic of the limited vocabulary
in these parts.
Turrah chuck,
Richard.
Hi Richard,
Hamledon does seem to be a popular name in the Burnley aea. I have been to the
other Hameldon hills on the Clowbridge side before. I even visited the weather
station. I was just pleased that the area was dry last Saturday.
I'm not sure about other people and Webshots, but I did forget to resize the
photos, so the large file size might mean that they will take a while to load
up. Sorry about that. However I am sure that the photos brought some memories
back for you.
Lorraine

Pleased to see and hear your Penyghent walk went well and that Steve is
getting to grip with the GPS!!
Having just looked at Hoof Stones Height walk I'm not surprised about your
comment about wanting nice and dry conditions it certainly looks like it has
the potential to be a real bog-hopping, boot-sucking walk.
Nice to see you made it to Black Hill again and that it is still living up
to its reputation.
I'm hoping I will be on your Scafell Pike walk although I'm not sure that
John will be on it, the corridor route and vertigo from what I have read
don't go together. However I will be getting the map out to see if we can
start out with you and then avoid the corridor route and meet up at/near the
summit again.
Regards
Angela

Hello Angela
It's a few years since I went up the Corridor Route but from memory it
wasn't at all bad - just a long slog. Perhaps others with a more
recent memory may be able to confirm?
I've made a note of the date - would quite like to join in, just
depends what else might be happening at the time. (Though kids back
at school by then.)
The problem will be if there is a sense of an edge with a sharp and steep
drop and he can't walk far enough away from it to not have to look at the
drop.
It would be great if anyone who knows this route well could let me know if
there is a section like this or not.
