Bill gets killed in the end. Oh shit I forgot that spoiler warning.
Alright then let me start from the beginning; oh no that was the
other film wasn't it. Or maybe not, because this time we start with
the infamous wedding (rehearsal), before moving through the whole
back story on Volume 1. The point being Bill (her former
boyfriend/employer) knew the bride, before she used to rock and roll.
Thus one by one we are given the clues to the whole story, until we
get to the earth shattering pay off. Namely the whole reason behind
this blood letting saga, was that 'Uma' didn't feel up to asking Bill
for some maternity leave.
Now the thing is every time the film starts trying to explain the
reasons behind it all, the pace flags, and one starts to nod off.
However whenever we are once more on the revenge killing spree again,
the film gets back on track. This time round then we have 'Michael
Madsen' next on 'Uma's list, whilst keeping one eye on 'Daryl
Hannah'. All this action of course, leading to the real championship
bout against 'Keith Carradine' (Bill). Well all I can say is having
taken two movies to get to that point, what a mega anti-climax it
turns out to be. Yet more explanations and reasons behind it all
before even worse, 'Bill' tries to kill both 'Uma' and the movie,
with an overdose of Saccharine poisoning by virtue of her unbeknown
daughter.
Thus having seen Volume 1 and 2 on consecutive weeks, this should
never have been two movies. Volume 1 was absolutely on the right
track as a stylistic and mindless action movie (Kung Fu homage
whatever). Therefore what should have have been tacked onto that to
make one larger film, was 'Uma's encounters with 'Madsen'
and 'Hannah' and a far more spectacular dust up with 'Carradine'
(Bill). Thus let the audience put their own interpretations/reasons
onto it. After all it was never too hard to guess in the first place
that 'Uma' was originally one of the Viper Assasination Squad. Still
two movies obviously makes more greenbacks than one at the box
office.
I have to say then, slightly disappointed with about half of Volume
2. The only part of the back story I did enjoy (although not really
essential to the plot) was 'Uma's training camp with a Kung Fu master
called 'Pay Me' or 'My Pay' whatever. For that small portion of the
film we were almost in classic ROCKY 1 territory.
