The wonderful institution of the Cambridge Film Festival starts its
25th season on 7 July and runs through to 17 July.
The opening night film is Robert Guedigan's 'The Last Mitterand',
while the last night film is Paul Haggis' 'Crash'. In between there is
a whole cinematic sweet shop full of goodies, such as: the UK premiere
of Jarmusch's 'Broken Flowers'; the UK premiere of John Sayles'
'Silver City' (with the great John Sayles in attendance himself); the
UK premiere of 'Ghost in the Shell - Innocence'; the UK premiere of
Miyazaki's 'Howl's Moving Castle'; the UK premire of Miike Takashi's
'One Missed Call'; the UK premiere of Bergman's 'Saraband'; and the UK
premiere of Refn's 'With Blood On My Hands - Pusher 2' with Nicholas
Winding Refn in attendance. In fact, there's a Nicholas Winding Refn
Presents... strand, as well as a documentary strand, a children's film
festival, a New German Cinema strand, a Dziga Vertov strand (and yes
it does include 'Man With A Movie Camera' with live accompaniment), a
Studio Ghibli strand, some of those Greenaway Luper suitcases, a Korea
in the 60s strand, an African Season, Frightfest, loads of short
films, and revivals including a brand new print of Lubitsch's
Ninotchka.
Not much then!!!
Come on over for one of the best Film Festival's in the UK.
