Hi all,

I have just joined the group and thought I would tell you a bit about
myself and what films I enjoy.

I adore film, now that's easy to say and I am sure you all feel the
same or what the hell you all members of a film group for. But it's a
passion isn't it. I am no film snob but I do know the difference
between a well crafted movie and a piece of tat dressed up to
allegedly entertain.

At the moment I am besotted by The Constant Gardener. Having missed it
at the cinema I had the pleasure of watching it on DVD. I adored the
acting and the scriptwriters have done marvellous things with the
source material.

My favourite film is believe it or not Citizen Kane. I think, when I
first watched it, I was driven to think that I should like the film
and I suspect that I did like it but for all the wrong reasons. Now I
can watch the film and marvel at the intricate plot line, the subtle
and not so subtle use of lighting, the screenplay and the acting, yes
the acting. How else can a movie be carried if not by the cast.

So to the more robust genres. Apocalypse Now (God bless Coppola and
Eleanor's companion piece is every bit as stunning. The Usual
Suspects, with its dark and funny twists. LA Confidential, it's just
so brutal at times and the flawed characters make you feel that you
are watching a film purely about the flaws of man.

So I am looking forward to following, and participating, in the group.
