Donkey Caravan to Timbuktu : An Ubuntu Documentary

“A 900 kilometer journey across Sahara Desert”

Synopsis:

'It has been a tough trip, but we returned to Timbuktu with 39
donkeys', says Al Mouktar, chief of a Tuareg tribe near Timbuktu. Due
to three droughts and the civil war this tribe lost all of their
animals. A Tuareg tribe in Bouressa, 900 kilometers up north, heard
of their problems and offered Al Mouktar its surplus of donkeys.

Before set off Al Mouktar, Al Joumarat, Al Kou and Achmed have to
chase the donkeys. After three days they have caught 39 of them and
set for Timbuktu. For 25 days they lead the herd across the never
ending plains, through sandstorms, across sand dunes, along a track
where they can find enough water.

“Like Leaves in a Storm” : Blood, sweat and tea, they should never be
associated.

Synopsis:

With each morning cuppa of tea, think of how much each tea leaf
affects the lives of the thousands of tea workers in India. in
reality, tea has much more agony and life/death implications for those
cultivating it than we might EVER imagine. Blood, sweat and tea, they
should never be associated.

“Everyday we donate one ounce of blood to the leeches to make this
blood we need to eat, but we don't have any money to buy the food
because we haven't got any salary for last 8 to 9 years”- a tea
plantation worker from India.

A documentary on hardships and the effect of globalization on tea
garden workers in India. The continuous hardships, forced alienation
and marginalization of this community is a matter of grave concern.
