Uh-oh! the end of Vulcan Blockbusters and big bore cakes/candles and
barrages! This is the fault of the UN and their over-reactive stance
due to the Enschede incident!
Looks like rockets with a powder weight of 20g or more will be stopped
by 2008 leaving enthusiasts no choice but to use the smallest
rockets!!! All this because the UN is outlawing them due to the
Enschede disaster in The Netherlands! They think reclassifying
fireworks and making adjustments will make things safer NOT SO;
It will just end up with big rockets being flogged and sold illegally
by illegal rogue firework hawkers/traders and vendors who think they
are above the law. It's a big shame;some of the BIG Cat3 25m display
rockets produce SUPERB thrilling aerial bursts and effects,
particularly the 3in and 4in ballhead rockets and torpedo-head 75mm
aerial shellburst rockets aka Black Cat Whoppa and Standard Polaris
and Starburst Star Slayer and Bright Star Metallic Morpheous etc.
This years event will take place on Tuesday 16th and Wednesday 17th
August on Plymouth (Devon) Breakwater. If you have never been before
its well worth a visit!! The competitors/firing times are as follows:
Tuesday 16th August
1. Alan Hillary Pyrotechnics(Current Champion) 9.30pm
2. Le Maitre Fireworks 9.50pm
3. Skyline Promotions 10.10pm
Wednesday 17th August
4. The Midnight Storm Firework Company 9.30pm (2004 Reserve)
5. MLE Pyrotechnics 9.50pm
6. Millennium Pyrotechnics Ltd. 10.10pm

It has been announced that there may me a change to the
categorisation of candles over 24mm. These may now be 1.3G creating
a problem as we generally carry enough to in theory make the load
1.1!! If there are any developments on this please let us know...
