We currently run a mental health awareness group that runs over approximately 10 weeks and have a consultant psychiatrist, social worker and pharmacist as guest speakers. The group had been originally planned to encompass all the topics you have planned but it worked out more appropriate to concentrate on mental health issues. If you are interested in our session plans I would be happy to send them to you. Also I am interested in setting up health promotion so any great ideas you come across please let me know.

secure setting with a group of long stay patients (male) with
enduring mental health problems. It is anticipated that the group
will be jointly facilitated by O.T. and Nursing staff with "visiting
speakers" from other professions (e.g. Sports Therapist, Pharmacist
and Dietician). Topics that we have considerd covering include
smoking cessation, healthy eating, exercise, mental
health "awareness", and medication issues.
I would be grateful to hear from anyone who has had experience
setting up a similar group, or any other advice or information.
