Hello fello OT's,
I am an OT working in a medium secure unit in the South West. I
would like to ask other OT's in this setting for advice on what your
policies are about a professional member of staff working on their
own with a group (more than one person). Currently in this unit
there is debate between OT's and nurses about this practice. OT's
feel you should never work on your own with more than one client, but
nurses feel on occasions this should be allowed i.e. in the evening
to facilitate a game of sport in the gym, taking a radio, maintaining
staff numbers on the ward.
Please could you e-mail me a response including the following.
1)Does policy allow OT's and nurses to work with more than one person
alone? If so is this the same for nurses as it is OT's
2)Do you have a policy which adresses the issue of a professional
working with more than one client on their own? If so what are the
main points?
3)If there is no lone working with a group of service users in your
unit what is main reason for this?
Thanks for your time and concetration, thanks Tom mills
