Having read all the comments and critiques regarding the cover artwork for ANNE
DROYD AND THE HOUSE OF SHADOWS I feel compelled to "put in MY penneth!"
All in all I feel the marrying of the font with the wonderful artwork is
successful so-far.
The overall effect when seen on bookshelves is (I'm sure) going to be very
appealing to young readers.
With a logo of her own, Anne has now moved up a notch. Once a final "look" has
been decided it will prove vital to stick with it and emboss ALL future editions
of BOTH books with it.
Darryl's logo is clearly readable, memorable and beautifully reflects the
underlying and ongoing theme throughout the books. It also gives the 'product'
an instantly recognisable image that, if reproduced WITHOUT a cover
illustration (on spin-off merchandise for example) leaves no doubt about it's
connection with the mainstream product.
Hopefully it will become just as recognisable as the Harry Potter logo (which
has now provided a new Font for graphic designers to use).
Well done to all concerned.
