Hi
I have just joined this group, is anyone else out there?
I work in glastonbury where there is a fantastic group called glastonbury
noticeboard.
This is a well used service where items for sale, wanted, rooms to rent events
going on, lost pets, anything and everyting is caterered for.
Why has Frome not got the same??
Perhaps this is the place
could we relaunch this group so that we can have a viable group helping to make
Frome more sustainable via the use of our efforts as residents to share our job
vacancies, skills wanted etc?
let me know if anyone is out there, afterall I see no one has used this since
May!!

My name used to be Heather Penny, I was born and raised in Frome. We
emigrated to Canada when I was 15 years old. I have lost contact
through out the years with friends I grew up with. I would really like
to hear from them, just to find out what life has delivered them with.
If any one knows of a John Raymond Burns, Jane Miller (nee Emerson), a
Jane Ashford that was her maiden name, a Bridget Cuss also a maiden
name. I would apreciate it if any one could give me any news on them

Who are the really good honest garages and who are dodgier than Dodge

Hi everyone.

I would just like to say I really like Frome. My gran used to live in
Frome and I used to visit her quite often. My favourite things about
Frome are the cinema and the Memorial theatre. I think that people in
Frome have no idea how lucky they are to have a town like that. Where
I live now we have no cinema, no theatres and I hardly ever get to see
live music events and stuff. I bet that one day all your great
facilities will be closed and youll wonder what happend and where the
gone. Enjoy them while u can. Frome is fab and I wish I was there.

Seems that having a baby in Frome is not going to be as wonderful an
experience as it has been for many lucky Frome parents. The old days
of being looked after, taught important baby-critical stuff like how
to breast-feed, how to bathe the baby safely etc. are all gone. Now
apparently under new NHS rules, most mothers will be expected to
drop 'n' go and often in as little as 3 hours after giving birth they
will be expected to check out of Frome Victoria Hospital!

No more recovery from the enormous strain of childbirth, no more
cappucino and hobnobs, no more tea and sympathy. This is nothing
short of a disgrace at a time when more tax money is being spent on
the NHS than ever before and yet wonderful, successful services like
Frome Victoria Hospital are suddenly being cut.

We can surely predict the outcome. More stressed mothers and damaged
families, probable increases in baby mortality and even shaken baby
syndrome... you heard it here first.

Amazingly this is all being done without any publicity, any uproar or
protest, the staff are not allowed to strike so they aren't going to
say anything... Come on Frome don't take it lying down...

Write to David Heath - get him to do something for a change!

We're nearly at that Frome Festival time of year. Don't miss the many
weird and wonderful events from 7th to 16th July here in Frome.
There's around 150 events in 33 venues in and around Frome. It is an
extraordinary festival and if you've never been, log onto the Frome
Festival website, choose a day and some events and get on over.

Have fun!

Can anyone come up with a better way to spend an hour on 1st June 2006?

My vote would be to walk over to La Strada in Frome and take a seat in
the sunshine on the pavement. Have a fabulous home made ice cream,
milk shake or just a freshly brewed coffee served by Jude and her
lovely team and sit back and watch the world go by.

Anyone got a better idea?

This is a really unbelievable disaster!! A beautiful victorian house
in Frome called Critchill Grange is due for demolition if the owners
get planning permission to demolish it and build houses or flats in
its place. One hundred years ago this house was the only house in the
area apart from a handful of small cottages called Flint Cottages. Now
it has been surrounded by Frome and it is threatened. The house was
once called Critchill Villa and it has about one acre of land with
some mature trees including very beautiful horse chestnut trees.

What do you think? Should the house be demolished just because it
missed out on being listed?

Hey everyone!

Let's make Summer 2006 really special in Frome. We've got so much
going on! The festival!! Can anyone really say that there is nothing
in it for them? What is it? Over 150 events in a little place like
Frome? Come on and let's have a great festival and a great summer.

(BTW I'm not an organiser of the festival or anything I just like
having top people come to Frome to entertain - I'll be trying for
Miles Kington, Paul Merton and Barry Cryer to name just three funny
guys!)
