I would like to update you on what's happening with the LRS web site
other than it changing to colour like a canary!

Near the top of the page, we have been showing the the news feed from
the Southgate ARC. This has been working fine for months, but
recently, due to the failure of the source server in the USA at a
University, the data is not being sent out.

This affected all of the news coming from SARC. Richard, G4TUT,
webmaster for SARC has made a workaround using another source.
Following his instructions, I updated the code on LRS to make use of
this on Friday night. This took me about 3 hours as the news feed is
only narrow so I re-sighted it on the right. It worked for about 3
hours! Now that server has failed! At the moment there is a blank
yellow space where the news should be and I have added a note saying
its off line, the instant service is restored, news will appear as the
code is still present.

If you look at the SARC web page, <www.southgatearc.org> you will see
the BBC news feed on the top right.

Acting on behalf of LRS, I have applied to show the same box on LRS
web page. At least we will have regular movement and show both SARC
and BBC technology news.
