Subject: [dmuars] Article in Flyer
Dear Flyer Editor,
I was disappointed to see yet another article in the most recent of your
'Flyer' comics that had little or nothing to do with contests. Consequently
I feel it my duty to protest in the strongest terms I know.
American receivers have no place in Olde England, what with their relatively
backlash-free tuning mechanisms and metal octal 'tubes' drinking our nice
warm beer and stealing all our fine young women. Indeed, I have it on good
authority that they are incapable of picking up any of Vera Lynn's popular
musings on White Cliff's etc!
I'm sure I speak for the overwhelming and right-thinking majority of people
in DMUARS, the RSGB, IARU and all similar bodies (yes, including the UK QRM
group) in politely, but firmly, insisting that the author of the
aforementioned eulogy be hunted down and beaten like a dog and all the keys
swapped round on his typewriter. I shall be writing to my
local MP; Jeremy
Clarkson; and to (Baron) Brian Rix (CBE), G2DQU, whose trousers I once had
the pleasure of seeing drop to the floor unexpectedly at an RSGB council
meeting when Dud Charman and the rest of his aerial (not antenna!) circus
jumped out of a nearby wardrobe with a scantily clad women in tow.
Please, please, please put a stop to this at once.
Yours etc. Home counties.
P.s. If you are incapable of stopping this nonsense, at least let's have an
article about the matching transmitters to give the other side a fair
chance.
