Am experiencing a very loud AM Broadcast transmission here in Aylestone Leicester.
3rd Harmonic 59+ on 3.780
Would be interested in how many other can hear it before I contact OFCOM.
Assume the RSGB has still got an intruder watch or some like committee ??
Bit difficult to identify as the station is of Asian Origin and though Leicester is set to be  the 1st UK Plural City my knowledge of all the ethnic tongues is limited.
Perhaps its a Pirate ?

Martin & Co

Made some enquiries a couple of weeks ago.

At Leicester Radio Society we have a TS950 (S or SDX) can check. With DDS etc

Would you need serail number ?

Believe bought from yourself or W&S new. (via Elliot electronics Leicester)

Fault is main RX not functioning (Intermittent)

Also exhibits (Has always) rather restricted RX audio.

Pse confirm charge for initial look at then reasonable estimate for  onward GUARANTEED repairs.

Also what courier would you prefer.

May be able to deliver in person will advise.

Also if you are able to give us an approx trade in / replacement value as we may be buying an ICOM pro3 or FT2000.

Do you have any deals for Radio Club members ?

Membership over 50.

Perhaps you have a brand new FT1000MP, under the bench ?

Unfortunately the FT2000 though good is outperformed by the ICOM.

Alex,

Hello, I am interested in getting involved with the club, and would like to know more about it. I know that there is a meet up every monday evening (when you go on the air) which i am interested in attending. I have no experience of radios as such (other than the off the shelf PMRs), I started scanning a while ago and now want to take things further.

Please advise me on the best way to do this.

Many tks 4 ur enquiry

Have u looked at the LRS Web site.
http://www.lrs.org.uk/
Be most pleased to see you.
Come up and ask for any committee member although we have a committee mtg @ 20.00
If you can get up earlier best to ask for Tony or myself.
Most pleased to make you welcome.
Failing that make yourself known to anyone else ..
Have quite a lot of new members recently licensed who am sure would be able to give you a trip round the club.

We are getting on the air quite  a lot these days.
Particularly on the lower HF bands.
We have radio capability from the 160 metre (Much like medium wave )
All the way to the lowest microwave frequencies. With good antenna systems as well.
Plus morse and some data and television facilities.

We are developing a decent lecture program.

Mike G4SJX is our lead trainer.

He may be able to advise you on any training slots.

We now have a LRS cell phone contact try John/ Linda Chairman & Secretary.

All coments noted, I have done all sorts of things No isolation, Full isolation, Eqiaulized non equalised etc etc.
I do it proper now!
Someone is getting me the PW diagram,
Idea was to get a club project running.
We have limited PCB facilities but drilling is a pain.
\hope to save pennies as some of our members are unwaged.
As opposed to me who is just tight.
So a PCB for a few bob then scrounge the bits from club members seemed a good ploy ?
Unlike the Novice course there does not seem provision in Foundation for practical soldering.
Suppose the important bit is teaching operational procedures.

Hope it does not go the way of the Curtis Keyer project,
Moral money 1st PCB afterwards.

Bring back the ST5 that was a proper modem.

Alex,

Presumably the idea is for some sort of LRS club project? I haven’t seen the article but I suggest you consider ensuring that the interface can manage RTTY as well as PSK31. In fact since the simplest approach is to use a sound card interface and then free software on the PC, I would be surprised to see that any interface shouldn’t be cable of both.

Anyone able to supply a copy of the PW article see below for kit price details.

Dear Alex,

If you buy 10 PSK31 kit I can indeed make a reduction on postage, and charge £33.50 each.

If you buy the PCB only it is £4 plus £1 P&P.  I will also supply any quantity of boards at £4 each but only charge the same £1 P&P.

Regards,
Antony Nailer.

Dave
I am a little confused  about ur question.
Perhaps you mean membership to Leicester Radio Society ?
Not aware we have ever had any problems with membership ,
If so suggest you talk to Duncan our new Treasurer, Roger our previous man or to Linda any Monday eve at Leicester Radio Society.

As regarding LARS that and LRG are not really anything to do with LRS the only common factor being the word Leicester,

Have copied to Geoff Dover who may be able to asssit re ang LRG or LARS enquiries.

On behalf of Leicester Radio Society
Not LARS LRG

Pse explain exactly what you want from LRS
Tks

Subject: Help

Hi Alex
My name is Dave Green (G6ZBT) and I have been trying to get in touch with somebody from LARS to enquire as to why me membership to the group is still pending. I filled in the joining application a while ago and nothing has happened.I log on to www.lars.org.uk for rally information and for the past 3 months the site has been under construction. I would like to know if the rally at Donnington is going to happen this year or is it going to join Elvaston Castle.
Sorry to land this in your inbox but I have spent the last 30mins ringing all the numbers I could find for the committee and all I got was answerphones or no reply at all.I did manage to talk to G3LMR but he was not up to speed as to what was happening in the comming year but a very nice gentleman to talk to all the same.

Looking forward to a reply

Cheers

Dave

Tony

Re PW PSK31 USB Kits.

At Leicester Radio Society we are considering buying some PC-USB kits for datacoms use.

1.       Would a price be negotiable for a quantity (Minimum 10) , Perhaps a deal on postage.

2.       Do you sell the PCB also only. Is it screen Printed ?

3.       Many Tks

4.       Alex G8FCQ for Leicester Radio Society

Many tks for your considered reply.
Yes there does not seem too much of a wish to advance their knowledge base,
Not exactly sure what the problem is exactly I know its not just @ LRS.
Perhaps the exam is a trifle easy ?
Shame really as we got some excellent amateurs in the 80,s who started out on CB.

Of course we have some very keen and disciplined chaps within the club  many who started out on CB so not all doom and gloom.
Some who are on the committee and doing sterling service for us all.
Hope to see u up at club again perhaps ?

I am very glad to hear that the idiots have left the club, I must
admit that I have not been happy with the club over the previous 2
years due to some members that I considered idiots so mush so that I
didn't rejoin this year due to that reason but if they have gone then
I will come back to the club.

I did think that some members of the club wanted to change the club
into a ham/cb club for some reason but that's not what the clubs about
and I am glad that the committee has stuck to its guns and kept it a
pure amateur radio/computer club.

It only takes a small number of trouble makers to spoil it for everyone.

If they want to open their own club with disco music and beer on sale
let them, it wont last long, it never did the first time round in the
80s and that's when they had more interest then ever they would have
now.

From an enquiry from Peter Cheeseman
Subject: DATA COMMS with ref to Data session last Monday

Contest software used  was RCK Micks package (registered) German
Normally I use MIXW2 (registered) but available for trial free. But only for 30 days.. (Russian)

We did agree to get MIXW for LRS but I did not send off the money.
It was abt £25, But as Dollar linked maybe a lot more. Wonder if they take euro,s !
Will have a look to see what current price is and wether we can get a discount for club members as Multi users ?

Available Free
PK31 is available
For RTTY then try  mmhamsoft.amateur-radio.ca/mmtty
And MMSTV for SSTV !!
