Further to my recent emails
1. I found the following on your website re Hog Hill/Eastway Cycle Track
When will work start on site?
In addition to the planning permission resolution, before work can commence on the site we will need to complete the statutory survey of Great Crested Newts at Hog Hill to obtain a licence for construction. We expect to complete this survey by mid-May 2007 and to be on-site in June next year but this depends on how long it takes to be granted the licence.
I note that newts are to be consulted on and work cannot begin until their protection is guaranteed. Residents at Clays Lane were supposed to be granted protection though a relocation strategy under which development was not meant to begin until this strategy was approved, but this does not exist. We are being relocated, unlike the newts, without the benefit of such protection or such a strategy.
2. I understand trees are also granted a degree of protection. Perhaps you could clarify whether the protection which I believe is granted to certain trees on public open space also applies to the trees on the Eastway Cycle Track as it is also an open space used not just by cyclists but the general public for walking and leisure pursuits.

Dear Mr Cheyne,
Thank you for your e-mail regarding the Eastway Cycle Circuit.
Eastway will be closed from 13th November. This is to enable us to start work to prepare the site ahead of development taking place. The preparatory works do not require planning permission and does not therefore contravene any planning regulations. There will be no public access to the circuit from this time although the cycle and pedestrian path between Temple Mill Lane and Quartermile Lane will remain open until next year. In the mean time, the circuit itself is being re-located to Hog Hill in Redbridge, where work is due to start very soon.
I hope that this information is useful.
Yours sincerely,
Dave Turner
