Alternatively, you could do a full soft reset... quicker, but you'd lose saved data... depends how much time you have on your hands to clear files one by one, and how important the saved history is.

I think the answer and solution is simple. There could be a corrupt
history or route file in the gps. The solution is to delete all items
or by one by one to see which was corrupt. My gps is with a friend and
he says that he has done the above and it is now working. I will let
