My understanding is that the Forerunner 405 is WAAS enabled and the 305
isn't. Does that mean that the 405's GPS is more accurate than the
305's?

WAAS

Theoretically, yes - WAAS uses a series of ground stations with known fixed locations to refine the error present in the clock signals coming from the GPS...
